Guelph Businesses Invited to Join Canada’s Trade Mission to Italy

Guelph, ON — August 20, 2025

The Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, will lead a Canada Trade Mission (CTM) to Italy from October 12 to 17, 2025, with stops in Rome and Milan. The mission aims to support Canadian exporters and innovators in expanding their presence in the dynamic and growing Italian market.

Focusing on key sectors—defence and security (including cybersecurity), aerospace, infrastructure, clean technologies, and energy—the mission will showcase Canadian capabilities and foster long-term, diversified trade and investment partnerships.

“Guelph is home to some of Canada’s most forward-thinking innovators and entrepreneurs, many of whom proudly reflect the city’s rich Italian heritage” said MP O’Rourke. “This trade mission to Italy opens doors for our local businesses to showcase their expertise on a global stage, build strategic partnerships, and contribute to Canada’s growing reputation as a leader in clean tech, infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing.”

Italy is the EU’s third-largest economy, currently undergoing a major transformation fueled by over C$302 billion in EU recovery funds. With shared values and complementary economies, Canada and Italy are strengthening bilateral ties, as highlighted in the Canada-Italy Leaders’ Joint Statement at the 2025 G7 Summit. Two-way merchandise trade reached a record C$16.8 billion in 2024, a 73% increase since the implementation of CETA.

Canadian companies interested in joining the delegation are encouraged to submit a detailed application via the Trade Commissioner Service website before August 29, 2025. Due to high demand, only organizations aligned with the mission’s objectives will be selected.
