About Dominique O'Rourke

Elected in 2025, Dominique O’Rourke is the Member of Parliament for Guelph and proudly represents her community in the House of Commons. As a twice-elected city councillor, entrepreneur and volunteer, Dominique is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people in Guelph.

Dominique currently serves as the Chair of Auto Caucus where she champions Canada’s automotive sector and its transition to electric vehicles. She leads collaboration between industry, municipal leaders, and government, organizes key stakeholder events, and advocates in Parliament for policies that protect auto workers and strengthen competitiveness.

As a member of the Standing Committee on Industry and Technology, Dominique and her colleagues oversee and study areas such as innovation, small business development, and scientific research. For Guelph—a city known for its strong agricultural technology sector, vibrant small businesses, and research institutions—this work helps to support local economic growth, job creation, and technological advancement.

Complementing this work, as a member of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Dominique and her colleagues examine federal transportation systems, infrastructure funding, and policies that shape communities across Canada. For Guelph—a growing city with increasing transportation and infrastructure needs—this work helps support reliable mobility, sustainable growth, and strong community development.

For over 25 years, Dominique has called Guelph home. She earned her master's degree at the University of Guelph, worked at The Co-operators Group and Agricorp – a provincial crown corporation. As founder of a communications consultancy, she wrote national reports on art, youth, sport, belonging and wellbeing.

As a proud Franco-Ontarian, she founded Réseau-Franco Guelph and previously served as Vice-Chair of Groupe Média TFO. She was recognized in 2018 as a Woman of Distinction, served on the International Women’s Day and Women of Distinction committees for years, and for a decade on the board of the Guelph Community Foundation. She is a Rotarian and a 10-year member of 100 Women Who Care.

In her role as a City Councillor for Ward 6, Dominique was an advocate for housing and support for the homeless; she introduced audit and accountability measures; and improved communications and representation for her constituents. She pushed for the construction of the South End Recreation Centre and increased support for the city’s designated long-term care home – including 29 new long-term care beds. She also passed a unanimous motion to declare intimate partner violence an epidemic. As chair of the Infrastructure, Development and Environment committee, Dominique was – and is - a champion of economic development.

In 2024, Dominique chose to run as the Liberal candidate in Guelph because she recognized the monumental time the country was facing both domestically and internationally. In the face of these pressures, Dominique believes Canadians need to come together to build a stronger economy, improve affordability, and create a greener, more prosperous future for everyone.
